Last August, I was trying to get myself a website for my Photography business. After much research, i had settled upon an American service provider. I never thought of researching the Indian market under the sole impression that it would be expensive. I am not going to disclose the deal i got Ratzzz! for but I am also stunned by what i see at Bigrock.
Well, Tarun from Bigrock had written to me asking for to write a review on them and had promised a giveaway for my readers in return. I accepted after much deliberation 'cause I wasn't sure if I wanted to do this. But what the hey, i guess some of my readers if not everyone, are on the look our for some less expensive alternative to the pricey GoDaddy :D
The steps are pretty easy too.. no need to employ a designer to create your website err unlike me.. Vinay bhaai thanks :-D
I found their TV commercial very funny and to the point. Brilliant indeed.

Hi,
The provider bigrock.in seems to be making serious mistakes in their design as well as security of the site.
Firstly they don't have an all https page for login and even the resulting page carries certificate of some other company(seriously, a hosting company doesn't have an ssl-cert in its own domain name?)
Second the resulting page (foundation-api) seems to be sending some data in non-encrypted mode that made my browser complain loudly. This is not same as 'some contents are not-encrypted' message; I know that that commonly happens when pages contain non-encrypted images etc. and is kinda normal(But I should also point out that it may not be normal for a 'web-hosting' company!). Here some post data itself seems to be sent in plain-text.
This made me think twice and so instead of using my high security password I used a weak password for which I patted myself on my back when I received an email from them containing both my password as well as 'secret' pin in plain-text!! A big no-no again.
And the list includes few more mistakes in payment related pages also, which are severe because of the money involved. Hope they'll correct the mistakes soon. I would advise people to wait till then before opening an account with them.
For a comparison go to hosting provider http://www.znetindia.com and click register. You will see not only a full secure page and an ssl-cert on their own name but also with extended verification enabled ssl-cert at that!
